Born and raised in Philadelphia, PA; David Fatek is an exciting and versatile saxophonist now living in the Kaiserslautern, Germany area who combines a firm grasp of the history and standard repertoire of jazz with a modern energy and approach that are thrilling.
After spending some time in Pittsburgh in the late 90’s studying with saxophone great Eric Kloss and attending Carnegie Mellon University, David earned his Bachelors and Masters degrees from the University of the Arts in Philadelphia as a student of Ron Kerber. Following graduation, he built a reputation as a consistently exhilarating saxophonist in the Philadelphia area before moving to St. Louis in 2003 to accept a position with the USAF Band of Mid-America. David currently serves his country as a full-time enlisted professional musician, and continues to work extensively as an in-demand freelance saxophonist and woodwind performer.
David’s list of performance credits include Grover Washington, Jr., Maynard Ferguson, Bobby Watson, Roger Humphries, Eric Kloss, as well as the Temptations, Martha Reeves & The Vandellas, Frankie Avalon, and Bobby Rydell. He has also performed for Presidents Jimmy Carter, George H.W. Bush, William J. Clinton and George W. Bush, as well as countless American and Foreign Dignitaries. David has toured extensively throughout the Mid-West and has played at Chicago Symphony Hall, Powell Symphony Hall in St. Louis, and The Academy of Music in Philadelphia. He also recently completed a tour of Southwest Asia and the Horn of Africa with the Air Force. David recently moved to Germany and will be touring throughout Europe over the next few years with the USAF in Europe Band.
As an educator, David was a faculty member in Saxophone Performance at McKendree University in Lebanon, IL from 2005-2009. He has performed at instructional clinics throughout the U.S., and has recently begun work on his first instructional jazz book.
